On a different note, What Really happened to the Volinteer Members of the Church of Scientology?
I passed by their tents on my way to lunch one day, and there were about 7 uniformed officials in the tent.
When I returned 1 hour later, there were no tents left standing. They were all appearently in the yellow container which is sitting at the intersection of the scrap yard and the Military PX. today.
Were these people forced to leave Island dur to expired Visas, or was it the pressure from the various religious denominations that caused them to flee?
"Hey," "Just Asking.

There are still many negative photos in my archives that I would be happy to share. There are also many photos of positive inprovement's that have been made to our surroundings over the past 22 years.
The earlier photos by the site administrator definitely had a positive impact.
While there is much to be done in the way of Island Litter, it takes an all hands effort to succeed. This, as I see it, is not happening.
As we enter in to hosting one of the most important event's in the history of American Samoa, "The Tenth Pacific Arts Festival," we are still "BOUND BY LITTER!"
I maintain that as long as the local govenment continue to sponsor clean-up details, that the litter problem will not go away.
I believe the answer is to impliment somewhat of a "Singapore Effect," in the enforcement of local litter laws. Granted, there are extremes either way, but as long as our government continue to pay people to clean up after those who litter, we will continue to loose the battle.
We want visitors to leave our shores with positive thoughts, and comments.
There is an old saying: "Good News Travels Fast." "Bad News Travels Faster!"
In conclusion, it is our citizens who will make it happen in the end.
Thank you.

I think the administrator is asking too many questions!

BUT, is it legal for such a loan to be made to the government? Perhaps the answer is with the Department of Labor!

Now hear this: The Treasurer, Valega, put the $20. Mil where it belonged, in the bank. This was to keep preying fingers off of it until it had been earmarked, approved, and ready for disbursement.Plus this would allow it to accumulate some interest. He was rewarded by a "Pink Slip." The Governor got sick. There was a $15. Mil allocatation for various projects, like a Tug Boat. This is hanky panky. Keep your eye on the M/V Sili. Nevertheless, what is going to happen to the remaining $5 Mil.? There were a bunch of nervous people running about while the Governor was ill.

Administrator, "Way to Go" on the photographs, sometimes you have to expose a problem to get something done. You should run for a government office. I happened upon your site while visiting various sites in the south Pacific. I actually run a local Sales and Service Retail store in addition to an e-commerce site for Outdoor Power Equipment, parts, and supplies. I have Google Earth and have viewed your island. Quite the place from a NASA point of view. Being from Arkansas and having once lived in Hawaii, I prefer the mainland, but certainly envy the peacful islanders of the South Pacific. Perhaps some day I will visit.

What a great idea. I live in Brisbane, Australia and am very concerned with the issues back home. I tune in to samoanews.com and americansamoa.gov and khjradio.com for mah daily update on what going on back home. Sad to say i think there's alot of corruption in the government and there are alot of issues which seemed to be ignored. Issues such as Tourism. I think if American Samoa followed Samoa's lead in making Tourism the top priority economy we can attract alot of attention to the islands. Not say to make it like Hawaii or Fiji but as a EcoTourism destination for surfers, naturists, adventurists....American Samoa has alot of protential to an internaitonal tourist destination. One thing i love about American Samoa is that its a hidden treasure and that makes it exotic.

Talofa All,
Thanks to the site administrator for the opportunity to tune in our people to take the time to put issues out for discussion. I strongly feel that when more people are made aware of social issues back home that their lays the opportunity for possible resolve on some of these lingering issues because it involves family and our roots.
I hope to get it out by word of mouth for people to look into your site. You might want to email puukani@pipeline2paradise,com to maybe put a word out on his radio station about your blog site. Thanks for your efforts.

Talofa to the organizers of PagoTalker and to all of you who will be visiting this site.

I hope that we can have some meaningful discussions on this blog and hope that things do not get out of hand between those political teams who have not been announced and those who are presently in power.

I am looking forward to these discussions and am real interested in hearing from others who visit this site.

Good luck to the organizers.

I am living North Dakota and seriously wishing I was down in your corner of the world. I will be following this blog with interest and will have questions about; living there, hiking and ham radio. :)

In the meantime I wish you all the best in your 'blogging' enterprise.
